何時漢字？

These terms apply to 何時漢字？ (Nanji Kanji) at https://nanji-kanji.online ("the game"), run by an individual in Japan ("we"). By playing, you agree to them. How we handle personal information is explained in the privacy policy.

1. The game

The game is a free tool for learning Japanese kanji: daily challenges, practice rounds, a notebook and related features. It costs nothing, has no paid features and shows no ads. You can play as a guest; creating an account with your email lets you keep your progress across devices.

2. Your account

• Use an email address you control, and keep access to it private: anyone with access to it can sign in as you.
• One person per account. Accounts can't be sold or transferred.
• You can delete your account at any time on the Account page.

3. Fair play

Please don't:

• use bots, scripts or automation to play, or to collect the game's content in bulk;
• try to manipulate scores, streaks or other players' data, or create accounts in bulk;
• attack, overload, probe or try to break into the game or its servers, or get around its limits;
• use the game for anything unlawful.

4. Content and licences

• Word lists, readings and meanings come from open dictionaries: JMdict and KANJIDIC2 (© Electronic Dictionary Research and Development Group, CC BY-SA 4.0), JmdictFurigana (CC BY-SA 4.0), KanjiVG (CC BY-SA 3.0), and JLPT vocabulary lists by Jonathan Waller via open-anki-jlpt-decks. Data derived from them is available under the same licences.
• The memory stories and part labels in the Radical Workshop, the artwork and the game itself are ours.
• The game isn't affiliated with or endorsed by the Japan Foundation or JEES, which run the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT). JLPT levels here are a guide based on community word lists, not official lists.
• Your notebook is private to your account.

5. Accuracy and availability

We work to make the game correct and to keep it running, but it is provided as it is: readings, meanings and answers may sometimes be wrong or incomplete, and the game may be unavailable at times (for example during maintenance). We may change, add or remove features, reset daily challenges, or end the service. If we plan to end the service, we'll give notice in the game where we reasonably can.

6. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, we aren't responsible for losses arising from your use of the game, such as lost progress or data, or results based on its content. This does not limit our liability for damage caused by our intentional misconduct or gross negligence, or any rights you have under the Consumer Contract Act (消費者契約法) or other laws that can't be excluded.

7. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top and, for important changes, tell you in the game before they take effect. If you keep playing after that, the new terms apply.

8. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Any dispute will be handled by the court with jurisdiction under Japanese law, and we'll always try to resolve problems by talking first.
